New England scenes and architectural subjects are recurrent themes in Richard's paintings. A native New Englander who makes his home in Rhode Island, Richard adeptly captures the essence of life in this unique part of America.

Richard is a Signature Member of the Northeast Watercolor Society. His watercolors have received numerous awards, including the Artist Guild Award at Newport Art Museum's Art on the Lawn and Best of Show at the Burrillville Art Festival. His work has also been juried into exhibits by the prestigious Northeast Watercolor Society and has appeared on magazine covers.

A popular watercolor painter, the artist is known as much for his entertaining and supportive teaching style as for his award-winning watercolors. Richard is a watercolor instructor at BFA Studioworks, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), and RI Watercolor Society.
