Eng Tay was born and raised in Kedah, Malaysia. His artistry, which has been honed on the world art scene in Europe, North and South America and Southeast Asia, reflects these global influences and gives his art a universal quality. Combined with Eng Tay's personal myth his paintings have a narrative style that is lyrical, nostalgic, mysterious and exotic. They reveal the harmony of life through the images of memory. "In my artwork I attempt to use memory as the source of continuity. Emotions, relationships, color, light, wind or sounds that I experienced last night or many years before, are the raw materials with which I try to create new "moments rooted in memory," explains Eng Tay.
