Johan Bjurman is a self-taught artist born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1947. Experience as an artist was gained in an apprenticeship with scenic and pictoral artists in the outdoor advertising industry. He further enhanced his education in the fine arts by traveling in Europe and also by a close association and study with many local artists.

Over the course of 20 years, Mr. Bjurman has exhibited his work in several area galleries many times including the Providence Art Club, Warwick Museum, Providence Public Library, The Bert Gallery, Po Gallery, Bristol Art Museum, Rhode Island College and the D'Attorro Gallery. He has also exhibited at the Pastel Society of America in New York City and the Boston City Hall. He is a member of the Providence Art Club, the Pastel Society of America, IBPAT, District 35, and is listed in Who's Who in America.
